The Channel Partner Enablement Class is a basic education program designed to get technology resellers using social media tools in conjunction with their vendors. There are six comprehensive learning modules, presented over six weeks under the sponsorship of industry-leading manufacturers and developers. The Social Media Adoption process was developed by Gilwell Group in collaboration with the Social Media Academy.

Channel Social Media Education Overview

Session 1 – February 18General Introduction To Social Media In A Business Environment Awareness and Registration:

  • The forces driving social media use
  • Changes in customer relationship (and buying) behavior
  • What vendors and distributors are doing – and why (Examples)
  • Homework (Find your vendors in the social web.)

Session 2 – February 25 – Social Media Tools, Places And Spaces Presence Development (personal Branding):

  • Profile development on main social networks and micro blogs: LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, etc.
  • Introduction to Xeesm, Hootsuite and other free tools that make social media more useful
  • Developing a “personal brand” strategy and Social Media Rules of Etiquette (photos and personal info)
  • Time management
  • Homework (Set up your profiles on the four main social sites)

Session 3 – March 4 – The Changing Face Of Marketing And Vendor Incentives Engagement – Marketing And Lead Generation:

  • Moving from vendor-directed communication to interactive discussion
  • Shifting brand development and what it means to solution providers
  • Vendor supported social media marketing and leveraging your vendors’ online presence
  • Drawing a social media map of your market (Find your customers on the social web)
  • Creating new content for social media
  • Homework: Join vendor and customer groups on LinkedIn and Facebook. Make comments or start a discussion.

Session 4 – March 11 – Leveraging Social Media to speed the sales cycle Collaboration: Sales And Revenue Growth:

  • Social Media and the sales organization, Adjusting “reference selling mechanisms”
  • Social sales versus telesales versus face-to-face sales
  • Success factors, goals, objectives, measurements, and reporting
  • Homework – Connect with your vendor’s online marketing

Session 5 – March 18- The Evolving Customer Management Process Community:

  • Integration and adoption by users (which users are best for social media interaction)
  • Co-support initiatives, knowledge syndication, Co Selling (sCRM)
  • Communication effectiveness and increasing customer satisfaction
  • Homework – Become visible in your vendor’s partner community

Session 6 – March 25- Assessing Your Social Media Landscape Strategy Development & Assessment:

  • Analyze where your customers and prospects are and what they do
  • Learn to assess your market from a social media point of view
  • Create a strategy/plan based on the findings in the assessment
  • Homework – Present your plan to key vendors

The Channel Partner Enablement Class is a basic education program designed to get resellers using social media tools in conjunction with their vendors. There are six comprehensive learning modules, presented over six weeks under the sponsorship of industry-leading manufacturers and developers. The Social Media Adoption process was developed by Gilwell Group in collaboration with the Social Media Academy.

Tuition is $249 per reseller. (Resellers may ask their vendors for co-op reimbursement.) Vendors can sponsor their entire channel for a set price of $3,735.

  • There will be homework assigned at each session. Homework will be self-graded, but some of it may be posted in the community. The work will be oriented towards connecting resellers with their vendors.
  • Partners will be invited to a closed community on LinkedIn where they can post questions, exhibit their homework, and interact with the instructors.
  • Use of Social Media Tools like HootSuite, XeeSm, and SlideShare will be part of the program, including instruction on how to use these tools for business

The six-week program will educate channel partners on how to leverage social media to grow their business and improve customer satisfaction. As a result of the “homework,” resellers will become better connected to their vendors and customers via popular social media sites.

Session structure: All session are one hour instructor led online sessions, every Thursday for six weeks. Sessions start 9:00 AM (PST). In addition we provide an exclusive online networking community for discussion and exploration. Attendees may share contact information for additional off line networking.
